Is Petrovsky College. According to educational portals, this college is among the ten most popular educational institutions in the region.

It is in this educational institution that those who do not wish to receive complete secondary education at school can continue their studies. The college trains highly qualified specialists in the technological field, who can later get a job both in our country and abroad. The educational institution has a rich history and is in no way inferior to universities in terms of the level of knowledge acquired by its students.

History of Petrovsky College: the era of the USSR

The educational institution was founded in a difficult year for the Soviet Union - in 1944. Then it was called the Industrial College of Labor Reserves; it was supposed to train specialists for training in railway and vocational schools, as well as factory training schools.

On October 1, 1944, the technical school began its work; 200 students were admitted. In parallel with the training, the workshops produced products that were later sold in the war-ravaged farms of the country. In 1946, new pedagogical specialties were opened at the technical school, and a year later the evening department began its work.

In 1953, a college was created at the technical school, which existed for 29 years. The department has produced specialists capable of working with technology. Since 1983, the technical school has been training personnel for foreign countries; foreign students are allowed to participate in all types of educational and extracurricular activities.

Petrovsky College after perestroika

Shortly before the events of 1991, the technical school became known as the Leningrad Industrial Pedagogical College. Completely different requirements began to be placed on the educational institution; its material and technical base was improved. In 1992, a socio-legal department was created, whose students can work as lawyers and customs officers.

In the 1990s, training of specialists in the field of social pedagogy and physical education also began; students of these two departments actively cooperate with leading universities in the northern capital. In 1992, the IPC became the official representative of the famous City & Guilds council in the UK.

In 1997, the IPK received its current name - Petrovsky College. In the early 2000s, new specialties and departments were opened. The faculties of aesthetics and hairdressing and computer technical support have become extremely popular. Additional specialties have been opened, the college actively cooperates with foreign colleagues and participates in joint projects with them.

Petrovsky College: reviews

On the official website of the educational institution, students and parents can leave their reviews and wishes about the work of the college. Mostly the reviews are positive, students like the system by which the training is carried out. After college, the majority express a desire to continue their education at universities.

Of course, there are those who do not like Petrovsky College, the reviews are direct proof of this. Some students show dissatisfaction with the bureaucratic costs of studying, in particular, this is observed in evening and correspondence courses. However, this does not affect the immediate learning process too much.

Petrovsky College and international cooperation

Petrovsky College is famous for its international projects, in which not only teachers, but also students are allowed to participate. The most famous of them in recent years have been Healthy Urban Life and Taitaja-2013. The first project was implemented jointly with students from Armenia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and students and teachers from the French city of Lyon took part in the implementation of the second.

Every year, new projects attract attention to the college, which is already known far beyond Russia. Students from the educational institution periodically participate in an exchange program, according to which they exchange with their colleagues from Hamburg, a city that is twinned with St. Petersburg.

How to enter an educational institution?

Petrovsky College (St. Petersburg) imposes a number of requirements on all its potential students. In particular, it is necessary to submit a whole package of documents to the commission. We are talking about a photocopy of a passport, a certificate of primary secondary education, a medical certificate in form 086, as well as 4 photographs measuring 3 x 4.

Among other things, you will need to submit a photocopy of the passport of one of the parents if the applicant has not reached the age of majority. Acceptance of documents from such applicants is carried out only in the presence of legal representatives; they are required to sign the relevant admission documents.

After submitting all the necessary papers to Petrovsky College, the admissions committee must calculate the average score on the prospective student’s certificate, and then enter it into the register of all applicants. Specialists add up the grades for all available subjects, after which the resulting number is divided by the number of disciplines. Next, applicants are ranked, after which lists recommended for admission are formed.

The work of the admissions committee

At the beginning of March, information about current specialties for which applicants will be recruited in the coming academic year is published on the official website of the college. Admissions officers also publish information about admission rules, documents about entrance examinations, and information about the programs according to which training will be carried out.

Acceptance of documents begins in mid-June and continues for two months. During the same period, applicants have to take entrance exams. After August 14, those who enter only based on the results of ranking certificates will not be able to submit documents; after July 31, those who enter only based on exam results will not be able to submit documents. The deadline for accepting documents for correspondence studies is from July 1 to September 20.

Do they provide hostel accommodation?

Petrovsky College, whose dormitory is provided not only to nonresident students, but also to students living in St. Petersburg, operates from September to June. To obtain a place in a dormitory, you will need to report your need for it when applying to the college, then the admissions officers will be able to submit the appropriate application.

According to the existing rules, each faculty is provided with a certain number of allocated places. However, the dormitory is not provided for all college specialties; detailed information on the number of available places in the faculties is published in early July.

The training time flew by, leaving behind good memories and new friends. The college has a friendly atmosphere that promotes self-improvement and self-realization of students. Thanks to the responsiveness and enthusiasm of the teachers, who try to give the student as much information as possible, I once had a desire to learn and develop. After graduating from college with honors, I got a job in my specialty. And I don’t regret studying here one bit.

I am studying the specialty "Banking", second year. I’ll say right away that if you don’t like numbers, then this specialty is not for you. We have many pairs of mathematics and economics. But I consciously made my choice, so although it is difficult, it is possible to keep up. Besides studying, student life here is very fun.
